Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences Unit strives to meet the agency’s mission “Improving the lives of people, businesses, and communities across Texas and beyond through high-quality, relevant education. The Unit provides real life relevant educational programs.

  • Supporting economic development and community development through tourism, park, and open space planning Empowering youth and individuals who work on behalf of youth
  • Promoting water conservation and watershed planning, Planning and evaluating Smart Growth and Walkable Communities
  • Empowering youth and individuals who work on behalf of youth
  • Training community festival and event leaders and volunteers
  • Assisting communities, landowners and businesses with Nature Tourism & outdoor recreation business management practices and community economic development
  •  Educating land management agencies & community officials on outdoor recreation user trends and issues
  •  Improving community health, economic impacts, and beautification through park and open space planning and positioning
